We conduct a research study on reducing vehicle emissions depending on the type of vehicle and engine category.
Vehicles are the second-largest source of air pollution in the capital. Although solid fuel combustion is reduced during the warm season in the Ger area, researchers have found that vehicle exhaust emissions are still high regardless of the season. The expansion of the capital city, the growing number of vehicles, and traffic congestion are increasing the risk of air pollution exposure. Thus:
- Restrict use of older vehicles, including diesel-powered vehicles (except diesel Euro-5 and Euro-6);
- Revise the maximum acceptable level and technical requirements for toxic substances in vehicle exhaust;
- Improve the quality control of imported fuels and update their technical requirements;
