In Mongolia, where vehicle numbers are increasing exponentially for the last few decades, high-sulfur fuels still continue to be the norm and, without strict control standards in place, emissions from transportation sources are becoming an urgent concern. Instituting policies to reduce sulfur in transportation fuels is the key to reducing vehicle emissions.

This paper addresses the need to reduce sulfur in transportation fuels and its impact on human health. Furthermore, it is intended to help both the public and the policymakers weigh the costs and benefits of reducing sulfur in fuels.
